1950 TRUST DEED FOR THE LEWES COUNTY GRAMMAR SCHOOL FOR BOYS (now called Lewes Priory School) CHAPEL.


  THIS DEED is made the eighteenth day of February, One thousand nine hundred and fifty BETWEEN NEVILLE ROWLAND JOSEPH BRADSHAW of Lewes in the County of Sussex of the one part and the said NEVILLE ROWLAND JOSEPH BPADSHAW ERNEST CLIVE FRANK of Old Bank House High Street Lewes aforesaid Chartered Accountant and PATRICK JOY of 43a High Street Lewes aforesaid Chartered Accountant (hereinafter called "the Trustees") of the other part.


 WHEREAS the said Neville Rowland Joseph Bradshaw is the Headmaster of the School established at Lewes, aforesaid by the Council for the Administrative County of East Sussex as the Local Education Authority which School is now known as The County Grammar School for Boys Lewes


  AND WHEREAS the said Neville Rowland Joseph Bsradshaw as such Headmaster has of his own initiative raised by voluntary contributions and other means a fund of money now amounting to Five thousand six hundred and eighteen pounds ten shillings and six pence for the purpose of providing by the erection of a Chapel for use in connection with the said School, or by other means a suitable Memorial of those pupils of the said School who served in His Majesty's Forces during the late war and gave their lives in that service


AND WHEREAS the said Neville Rowland Joseph Bradshaw is

desirous of continuing to raise funds for the said purpose AND WHEREAS the said Neville Rowland Joseph Bradshaw has paid or transferred the said sum of Five thousand six hundred and eighteen pounds ten shillings and six pence to the Trustees who have consented to act as Trustees for the purposes of this deed and they are desirous of providing for the future application of the said fund and of any additions which may hereafter be

made thereto in manner hereinafter appearing.


NOW THIS DEED WITNESSETH that for effectuating the said

desire and in consideration of the premises it is hereby agreed and declared as follows:

1. The Trustees shall hold the said sum of FIVE THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED AND EIGHTEEN POUNDS TEN SHILLINGS and SIX PENCE and all sums of money hereafter given or bequeathed for the purpose of this Deed and all investments at any time representing the same

or any part thereof all of which are hereinafter called the Trust Fund and all income arising there from upon the following trusts, namely

(a) to invest the same and the resulting income thereof in any securities authorised by law for the investment of trust funds with power to vary or transpose such investments for others of a like nature

(b) As and when required to sell all or any of the investments at any time representing the Trust Fund and to apply the proceeds of every such sale and any moneys whether capital or income then forming part of the Trust Fund at the discretion of the Trustees after consultation with the Governors of the said School in erecting decorating, furnishing and fitting up a Chapel for the said School or in providing in any other way approved by the Trustees after consultation with the said Governors for a Memorial for the pupils of the said School who fell in the late War as aforesaid and in maintaining any such Chapel or Memorial and in executing the trusts and powers herein contained.


2. The Statutory power of appointing new or Additional Trustees shall apply to this Deed and upon any appointment of a new or additional Trustee or Trustees all moneys or investments representing the capital or income of the Trust Fund shall be paid or transferred to such new or additional Trustee or Trustees jointly with the other Trustee or Trustees of this deed for the time being and all acts deeds and things necessary for such purposes shall be done and executed and all cost of and incidental thereto shall be paid by the Trustees out of the Capital or income of the Trust Fund
